how was your baby afterwards? I've just had a friend round and we were discussing bf etc.. and then onto labour. She said her first born (she's mum of 4) was really difficult and cried all the time. It was her only long labour with epidural.
My first child (have 2 ds) was also v long labour with epidural and he was the the same, extrememly hard work. Could this just be first labours though/nothing to do with the labour or is there a link?

I had the same labour with ds, long with epidural. He was laying back to back. He is the most laid back child and was such a good baby. Don't think there is a link, at least not in my case (ds is 7). I had a quite short intense labour with ds (with epidural) now she was difficult and clingy!!!!

MY waters broke naturally at 14 days overdue, ds was actually brn at 16 days overdue, was induced, had an epudiral, He came out, I put him over my shoulder and he raised his head! Born at 8 pounds 7 oz, He slept for 14 hours, waking intermittantly for feeds, then screamed for 12 hours (and I will never know why!) Then hardly ever cried again, settled himself into a routine as I didn't have the nouse to do it for him.

All in all, horrible birth, lovely natured baby.

I just felt I had to share my epidural experience... small asian doctor came into room armed with needle + drugs etc. I sat there as still as poss whilst he did his magic - "Oh" he said "You have a strong back, do you do lots of sport ?" me through gritted teeth & gas & air "Not at the moment"
I really must apologise to him!

I have a major needle phobia, I made more fuss with the epidural than I did when the babies head crowned - by this time my last top-up was wearing off, so it did hurt, just I found the nasty needle thing a whole lot more distressing. Yukyukyuk not natural to have needles in your back yukyukyuk!!!!

all my laboirs were quick, although I had an extended second stage(3 hours) with dd1 and she was delivered by forceps, she was a lovely baby but is a bad tempered teen now!! however, sil had a bay boy in july 2 weeks before my dd2 was born and she had a dreadful time, not her first but she was in labour from tuesday and finally had him on the friday , he got stuck on the way out and it took 3 midwives to deliver him, he was very shocked and had to go to scbu for a day, he was 9lb 7 oz and looked a real bruiser, he did nothing but cry day in day out and I felt v guilty as my dd was so placid eventually they took him to a acranial osteopath and he has been a different baby since.
