Post C Section

Hello!

I'm having a csection in December and I'm curious, how long after your csection did you look somewhat normal again?
As in tummy had deflated and you could wear normal clothes again? I don't mean pre pregnancy size clothes but like, tights or jeans?

Curious more than anything. I'll be having baby at the start of December and wondering if it's worth me buying a nice Christmas Day outfit or weather I still won't be comfortable enough for that and to forget about it xxx

After about 2 weeks I could manage mom jeans but anything tighter (skinny jeans, tights etc) felt horrible and just made my scar really tender. I didn’t really stop having pain and aching until around 6 weeks post c-section so I kept to looser things until then but it may be much sooner for you. You could always go for a midi dress with boots type outfit instead of wearing tights?

I couldn’t cope with anything that pressed on my scar for about 6 weeks so I was in big knickers until then! I also wore my maternity jeans afterwards for that reason and high waisted leggings

I personally wouldn’t bother with a special Christmas outfit, maybe just a nice baggy Christmas jumper and some comfy trousers….. my scar still had some discomfort for a good few weeks and anything too tight wouldn’t feel great! I’d defo recommend comfort above everything else especially with a newborn too! Best of luck! X

I weighed myself a couple of weeks after my c section and I weighed less than pre-pregnancy! Please note - I was overweight before I got pregnant and I had gestational diabetics so didn’t ’eat for two’ and actually ate much healthier than usual during pregnancy.

I was given a tubigrip to wear after the c section. I think it acted as a gentle corset so I got my waistline back pretty quickly. But again, I was overweight to start with.

I could wear my jeans two weeks afterwards but I didn’t really want to - I was sitting a lot and it just wasn’t that comfortable, even though they did fit (I checked).

In your shoes, I’d find a Christmassy top that you could wear with a maternity skirt/trousers or your pre-pregnancy clothes if you find those more comfortable. Be flexible!

Congratulations in advance of your new arrival!

I'm nearly 2 years after mine and have what they call the 'c section' pouch above the scar. Like a small bulge. But I'm still 2 st over my pre baby weight.

The scar is much lower than you think - mines in the top of my public hair.

It took 10wks+ for me to recover and be able to wear jeans again let alone drive! Take your recovery seriously! X

Being totally honest I could only wear my “normal” sized leggings at 6 weeks. I was still wearing maternity leggings in a size above my normal size up until then. You need to be very gentle with yourself post c-section.

I ‘bounced back’ relatively quickly after my first c section, I would say I could fit in to my pre pregnancy jeans about 2-2.5 weeks after I had my baby. My second it took longer, the recovery in general and not just waiting for my stomach to deflate. I took photos of my side profile every day and compared them for a good 2 weeks wondering why on earth I wasn’t bouncing back like the first time. So in the end I stopped.

That time I could never fit in to some of my pre pregnancy jeans! Baring in mind I was almost 4 years older too. I went from a size 6 to a size 8 which I know I can’t complain about but it did feel a little shitty at the time.

I’ve just had my third c section and baby 10 days a go and still look about 20 weeks pregnant 😩 I fear this time I will no longer be a size 8 but a size 10. Seems to be an ongoing pattern. The belly really does surprise you though and we’re all different. My belly button has never returned to normal though unfortunately for me! 😖

Is it your first baby? Planning on breastfeeding?

I think my wound had more or less healed by 6 weeks, but you might need to think about leaky boobs, boob access, bras that fit and look ok under dresses, baby spit up/poopy leaks.

Plus if you're really sleep deprived you might prefer comfy to glam. I had a month old baby one Christmas and spent most of it with a soft sling that would have covered a nice outfit.

Clothes can be delivered fast, I'd wait until you know what things are like.

It will likely be a month plus before you want anything tight around your scar.

Hellohowareyou113 · 25/09/2024 09:50

About 3 weeks here but was a few months before I felt my figure had completely normalised. It worried me before but once I’d had the baby I was so tired I literally didn’t care - just noticed one day that things had gone back to normal.

I should add that a 10cm diverification of recti noted at c section which is apparently severe. Never expected to look the same again afterwards.

Hellohowareyou113 · 25/09/2024 09:50

Also to add I carried on wearing maternity clothes for a few months even though I didn’t need them after a few weeks - I liked the comfort!
