elective booked and imminent last chance to consider VBAC - any ideas?

Elective c section booked and will happen in a couple of weeks. Had an emergency c section last time around, after very long [40] hour labour, blindingly painful contractions and no dilating. Eventually did get fully dilated with oxytocin drip and midwife breaking my waters, etc, but by then after two days and one failed epidural they then gave me an epidural which knocked out my legs completely. Don't know how much of all that was relevant, in the end ds's head so high up and twisted slightly that they couldn't even use ventouse so went into surgery. He was very big, 9lbs 14oz and a big head.
They have suggested an elective this time round because baby looks big and because of complications last time. I really would love to try for a VBAC, my worry is that i had multiple pelvic fractures after a road accident as a teenager, and no one can tell me if this is the reason I couldn't push ds out. Does anyone know anything about pelvic fractures and ability to have a VB afterwards? A niche question probably! would so love not to have to have an operation and stay in hospital this time, but just don't know what my chances are, and want to avoid an emergency c section above everything. Any ideas gratefully received....

Also if you have a cs will it be at the JR?

i'll have a look at that link mistermoo, thanks. VS, i wish i had your courage and stamina for holding out as long as you did, i'm sure it was the best thing for Alexander. I am a bit worried about my milk production coming through i must say, even after emergency c section at 41 weeks last time it was tough to get it going, but there were other factors last time too such as me being clueless and having no help, and ds being fed without my consent. I may ask if i can put the elective off until at 40 weeks, although even that makes me very nervous!
I would love to see if i could have a bit of a go at labour and then be transferred if it is a no go, but just don't know if the organisation is in place to allow that to happen.
I didn't know you couldn't h ave oxytocin after a c section, so that is interesting. If i don't dilate i suppose that will be the deciding factor anyway.

if i were you i would wait until 41 weeks or longer if possible, if baby is happy in there

some obs are happy to try to induce with prostin gel, but not oxytocin.

waiting for as long as possible for labour to start spontaneously, with no ARM or augmentation gives you the best chance of a VBAC.

i'll talk to the consultant this week lulumama. That would be a good choice i suppose. Off to read those links in depth now!
