Any got a success story’s for 4th baby induction? I’m due to go in tomorrow to be induced, baby’s due on Friday. Absolutely dreading it I was induced with my second an it was 6 hours from start to finish but I’m just panicking this one’s gonna take longer

@Tanya2436 how did it go?

I’m supposed to be induced with my fourth baby in a week’s time but I’m contemplating cancelling it as I’m so worried! I was induced with my first and really don’t want a repeat of that experience (very medicalised, a lot of pain relief and interventions that I hadn’t wanted, and I felt totally out of control and like I had no say in what was being done to me).

I’m trying to tell myself that things might be different as I’ve had two quick spontaneous deliveries since, but I’d love to know how your experience was.

I was induced with my 4th on his due date (placenta was breaking down). Pessary went in, labour started a few hours later, baby born 30mins after the first pain. No pain relief (no time!) and if I hadn’t been already in hospital he’d have been born by the roadside!

That was to @HettyCletter , obviously the OP has well and truly had the baby!

Thanks for your reply @MissedItByThisMuch - that’s really encouraging! Did you have your waters broken or just the pessary?

MissedItByThisMuch · 25/11/2024 20:50

@HettyCletter just the pessary I think - they put it in in the evening and were going to break my waters next morning if needed, but he was born that night. But it was 18 years ago so I might be remembering wrong!

Also I was induced with my first and that was horrible - had the drip, really intense pains, midwife didn’t believe I was in labour so wouldn’t let me have an epidural (stop making a fuss now, how about a nice warm bath instead 🙄), eventually I made so much fuss she rolled her eyes and examined me to find I was fully dilated. So no epidural because “you’re about to have a baby” (no fucking kidding). 2nd stage lasted hours annd hours and was horrendous with no pain relief. I ended up with a bad tear. It was all horrific. Number 4 was a completely different experience.

Sorry I keep thinking of more 😳 I think what made the most difference was a midwife who was kind and listened to what I wanted, having a calm conversation with her about how I wanted it to go before it all kicked off (which she listened to and implemented), and my own clarity (after 3 births) about what it actually was that was important.
