C section in Brighton

Hello,

I’m due an elective c section in Brighton for medical reasons and feeling pretty anxious about it, especially after reading some bad stories about specific doctors on the local news etc.

I guess I’m just looking for reassurance, really! Anyone had a good experience with c section there and have some doctor names to recommend ?
I guess my biggest nightmare is that I would get booked in on a particular day and show up to find it’s one of the doctors with bad stories.I don’t know how I’d go into the surgery then tbh. Are there any doctors with good stories??
Thank you :-)

it’s hard when you hear about stuff, and then you can’t choose the doctor.. hopefully it’ll be someone good!

@Pastelgirl you'll be fine it's a scary thought having a c section but honestly it's ok,I chose to have my second!
The only advice I would say is keep up the painkillers, make sure you properly rest and the first two weeks are sore but after that you'll soon back back to normal and you'll likely have a numb belly but it does improve somewhat in time
Good luck with your new baby 😊

Hey,

I have many friends who have had sections at Brighton and had a good experience (in fact, I don’t know any with a negative experience). I personally had a section at another BSUH hosp and had a good experience both with my surgeon and the aftercare. My scar is very neat and I’ve not had a problem with it. If you are very nervous about Brighton, you could ask to go to another hosp in the trust? It will be fine though, you’ve got this 🙏🏼❤️.

Good luck with it! Xx

That's really great to know, @Boymum3722 !
It's true that switching hospitals may be another option, though it doesn't so much remove the uncertainty about who will be there on the day. I think it's just something I will have to accept!
I got worried after reading some articles on the Argus that mentioned things that had gone wrong with specific doctors. I'm hoping those doctors don't practise on the labour ward anymore, or if they do, I can always ask to reschedule.
Thank you so much for the support xxx

My sister had all her 3 children via c-section (2 at Princess Royal in Haywards Heath and one at Brighton). She had a better experience at Princess Royal but this was a while ago now.

@Pastelgirl you can absolutely ask to reschedule if you aren’t happy on the day. I had 4 planned inductions which I rejected each time and they planned in new dates with me there and then. I gave birth at PRH and although it was an emergency section every single midwife, anethetist and dr were calm, helpful and encouraged me to make my own choices.
A close friend had a planned section at PRH 2 weeks ago and also had a good experience.
I’m sure if the Argus have written pieces on certain drs that they won’t be allowed to practice at the moment.
What date are you due to go in? Xx
