Big baby at 38 weeks

I have been scanned at 38 weeks and baby measuring 8.4 they said there is a margin of error of a pound either way so worried I could be more. I have gained about 20kg since pregnancy so I feel the scan is accurate everyone is commenting how big my bump is. I don’t have gd and wasn’t overweight before pregnancy and am 5ft 5 so fairly average height.

the doctor is going to do a sweep at 39 weeks and if that doesn’t work will induce me 2/3 days later she said I def won’t be going over the 40 weeks.

worried about delivering a big baby and if I should try push for a section? This is my first baby. I had been hoping for natural birth but given the size I am worried about shoulder dystocia or needing forceps or emergency section.

Honestly OP do not worry! The scans can be massively wrong!

My baby is 4 months old now and for most of my third trimester I was being warned about how big she was, had regular growth scans as they were saying I would need to be induced due to her size. The scans she was measuring huge supposedly and they said by 40 weeks she’d be nearly 11lb, measured her at 9.5lb at I think that was my growth scan at 38.5 weeks roughly.

I was terrified!

She was born at 39 weeks 6 days at 7lb 14🤣

DS2 I was told would be at least 10lbs. DS was 9.1lb and I was measuring big with DS2. When he was born after induction, midwife said "Oh! He's not that big after all!" He was 8.6lbs! Smallest of my three. Scans have such a high chance of inaccuracy. I know it's easy to say, but try not to worry. Flowers
