I woke up last night feeling really sick with a few period like pains I managed to get sleep but this morning I still have awful nausea and period style pains/ back pain that's radiating down one leg, I have had very low blood pressure my whole pregnancy and am a bit worried it could be early labour so if anyone has experienced early labour I just wondered what your symptoms were? I'm 32 weeks my last was born at 36 - am I just over worrying!

Well what did your midwife say when you phoned them to ask?

hol92 · 29/07/2024 11:40

My midwife is only available on the phone Wednesdays, I can only ring the labour ward but am worried about wasting there time with how busy hospitals are at the moment

If you think you're in labour at 32 weeks you get your ass to the maternity triage at your hospital to be checked over. Your job isn't to worry about how busy they are. That's their job. Yours as that babies parent is to have them check you over.

Phone maternity triage and get yourself checked out, you won’t be wasting their time, my first was born at 36, I went into slow labour at 32 with my second, hung on an extra week and a bit in the end

Obviously you phone them now.

Just gave them a call they have said to monitor for a few hours and if it gets worse to call back, am really hoping it's nothing, my stomach keeps going hard but I'm not sure if that's her back pushing to the front!

@Strictlymad how did you know you were in labour with your second? Were they able to prolong it or did you baby naturally come
A week later? X

Honestly I'd ring them back, tell them you're unhappy with monitoring at home. You are having contraction like pains, with corresponding hardness of your bump and a history of preterm labour. You want to come in and be assessed. Advocate for yourself and your baby.

No one ever regrets getting checked. They only ever regret not going in. How are baby's movements today despite the contractions? If it's hard to feel them I'd also tell them that, because it's reduced movements.

Not the same but I woke up in labour with my first at 5am. I was 41 weeks so not a problem, they kept coming, contractions 3 in 10 mins within half an hour. Rang triage and they were reluctant to see me as FTM and would be 'ages' yet.

Said I wanted to come in as a GBS carrier and I was already really struggling with the pain. They assessed me at 2cm and wanted to send me home but acknowledged that I was having very intense contractions and couldn't talk or even really breathe through them. Then the swab results came back. Turned out my hind waters had gone (as a GBS carrier that's an I need antibiotics immediately). 20 mins later on transfer to labour ward rest of my waters broke and I was fully dilated less than an hour after arriving at the hospital. Baby got stuck, heart rate plummeted and would have died had I been at home.

Lost my mucus plug at 32 weeks, from that point in was having mild contractions/strong braxton hicks on and off. Rested at home between appointments. A weeks later waters began to leak. Was admitted for monitoring/antibiotics/steroids. Contractions more bothersome. 2 days later he was in distress so had emergency c section.
absolutely get check out and monitored

I had a baby at 32 weeks
My waters went first thing and I spent the morning in denial before making a GP appointment at 4pm!!!
Obviously I was sent straight to hospital and the baby was born that evening
Please don't delay
If necessary turn up at the hospital
My story luckily turned out well and I wish you good luck.
