Anyone had 3 (or more) c sections?

Debating baby #3 but had 2 previous c sections (both “elective” but planned just days before due to complications) healed mostly well from both. First - fine, second- small infection and adhesions etc. Would consider vba2c but also would have to accept it’s highly likely it would be a 3rd section if I were to have a third baby and that scares me a little. Can anyone share experiences? Thank you.

2 emergency C section after pushing for an hour so consultant wanted me to have an elective for #3. I was desperate for a vbac so lied about the date of my LMP and then persuaded the consultant to let me go to 39 weeks (which was actually 40+3) before the elective C section. DD wouldn't have been born vaginally anyway due to a very short cord which was kind of reassuring (weird as it sounds) as I needed to know that I couldn't go into labour naturally to accept the section.

i found it way more emotional - standard of care on the maternity ward had reduced massively in the two years since my previous baby. Night 3 I was on my feet all night trying to settle DD and when I pressed the call button at 4am for help, the nurse snapped "its your third one you should know what to do by now!"
The next time I didn't ask for help and got scolded for allowing DD to fall asleep on top of me Grin. DH went back to work when DD was 10 days old - it was 25 years ago and paternity leave wasn't really a thing then! but it was nice to see the back of him as the two older ones got less 'scrappy' and attention seeking when he wasn't around and the days were calmer (most of the time!).
I wouldn't let the prospect of a 3rd C section put you off another baby if you really want one.

Didn’t Posh have four? In saying that the lady opposite me in the ward had her 3rd section and the doctor told her that she can’t have a 4th as her womb is now ‘paper thin’ if that helps?!

I’ve had 6. All were fine. Considering one last baby. Smallest gap was 3 years so plenty of healing time in between!

I have had three and personally It took me much longer to recover from the third one than the first or second . First section was planned due to a breech baby. Second section 2.5 years later was emergency due to placenta abruption . 6 years later I had planned section because I was told it wasn't recommended to try and deliver vaginally . I spent longer on the operating table while they stitched me back together, it took longer for me to be able to walk , I had a drain directly in the incision which I hadn't had with the first two. I took pain relief for longer . When your stomach muscles have already been cut through twice , having them cut through for a third time is hard. I was nearly 10 years older when I had my third section so that probably didn't help . You recover from things much quicker when you're younger . This is only by experience.

Just had my third in April. I had 3 C-sections in the space of 3 years so probably changes things a bit as I didn’t give myself a chance to fully recover inbetween babies - the actual surgery has always been fine for me. The recovery is the part that gets worse. I got severe afterbirth pains with my second and third, and my third has really screwed up my back. I could barely pick my baby up on postnatal because of my back pain 😅 I would change it though, obviously. He’s worth it, but just something to consider

Wouldn’t **

Currently pregnant with my third after 2 EMC. I really wanted a vba2c but consultant wasn't keen I got a second opinion and that consultant scared me even more but with actual facts on my specific surgery notes. So I have an elective booked if he spontaneously came before I would trial a vba2c .
This will be 3 sections in 4 years my body is wrecked this pregnant with terrible PGP but I'm hopeful an elective will be better than an emergency

I've had 3 elcs. 2 year gap between 1&2 and 3.5 years between 2&3. Pregnancy, healing and pain relief were fine. No pain, I used paracetamol on a schedule afterwards before the pain sets in. No afterbirth pains or back pain or infections. I had support from DH who was had paternity leave for a few months after each birth, so I didn't have to do anything strenuous when healing although I was out and about within a few days.

I had three electives with about 3.5 and 2.5 yr gaps. Wanted a VBA2C with the third but placenta stayed low at term and wasn’t far enough from the cervix to be allowed to go into labour. The last one was the fastest - 30 minutes start to finish. x

It’s not the caesarean itself I was worried about, more so getting pregnant after two caesareans and potential issues with the placenta like praevia or accreta. However, these can happen even after just one caesarean.

I would like another child (have to win a EuroMillions jackpot to afford one though) x
