I’m 9 days PP vaginal birth, lost 750ml after delivery

barely bled the past couple of days, just a bit of brownish blood when I wipe

just got out of the shower and about 10 mins after I’ve stood up and trickle of red blood down my leg. Put a pad on and had this within 5 mins. Seems to have slowed now and just bloody when I wipe

is this normal?? I’m so scared of having a big bleed again and not sure if this requires medical attention this evening or not?

How are you feeling? Pain? Fever? Nausea? Weak?

You can always ring the maternity unit you came from and ask them, they'd rather you checked with them than us, I'm sure.

I can't see any picture but I had a postpartum hemorrhage and lost 970ml of blood and I also had very heavy bleeding for at least 3 weeks after giving birth but I would always phone maternity assessment to have them check you out to be sure

I feel fine in myself, just a bit shaken up now. Bleeding has stopped. I’ve got 2 older ones and the baby at home and just my husband and just not sure if I can get anyone to sit in with the kids now if we were to go to the hospital

I have midwife in the morning and have taken a photo of the pad but also worry I’ll bleed in the night tonight

Hey OP midwife here. Save any photos and pads to show your midwife in the morning. To a lot of our patients it sounds gross but it's actually really helpful. If you start to soak a pad within 30-60 minutes, or pass any clots larger than a 2p piece then phone the maternity ward asap. They'll have an out of hours number you can call. Or if you start to feel unwell or are still worried it's always best to call.

Just seen your update. It's reassuring that the bleeding has stopped. Also, it's likely at only 9 days postnatal you'll be up with baby in the night so just have a quick check of your pad as and when baby is up. If anything changes give the hospital a call.

Thank you so much, given me reassurance.
I feel so shaken from having a big bleed after a horrendous birth that the sight of red blood now is making me so anxious.
can I just ask is it normal for it to stop and start. It tailed off so quickly this time round (compared to my previous 2 births) and this gush from nowhere has really scared me

Thank you, I will do, I’m constantly checking now.
when I googled it everything seems to say red blood should have finished by day 5, which from my previous 2 I definitely remember it being a lot longer than that

Postpartum bleeding lasted for several weeks for me. It was extremely heavy and would stop and start. I can't see your photo but I'd soak maternity pads.
