I'm thinking, overnight clothes for me, toiletries as norm, nappies, breast pads, towels, basic baby clothes, and that's about it... or is it? Took too much last time but dh wasn't driving so in my defence had good reason! We live over an hour away though so it would be good to avaoid a trip home for something so normal...please remind me what you had?

Thanks! (This also may even help me realise I will actually have a baby soon....)

Boy, this takes me back. I brought ONE large SUITCASE in for when I went into labour with DS1. With DS2 I brought a small holdall.

Good Luck Ladies!

Maternity pads. You need maternity pads. NOT sanitary pads. You will need quite a lot. In addition to the knickers, you need disposable knickers too, as you might bleed A LOT. This means also that a long nighty that you can pull up above your bottom when in bed is a must, as you can hide the stains with it (and your dressing gown) when you walk to the loo to change your pad. (As opposed to a pj)

Fab list!
I swear by vest tops/t shirts and sarongs.
Wouldn't take baby blankets/ towels myself, I took a shawl from my mum 1st time and it got 'lost' in the hospital laundry due to a helpful junior midwife changing my baby for me (I'd had emcs).

do you know what, i took all of this stuff to hospital with me (it looked like we were moving house!!) and didn't use anything except:

nightie
toiletries
change of clothes
clothes for LO
snacks for me (after all my hard work

so if i ever have another one i don't think i'll be packing quite so much.

i think it might be worth a call to the maternity ward to check what they have there, if anything - they sorted me out with disposable pants, pads, etc even though i had my own with me.

Ditto maternity pads- some hospitals will give you them the first day but expect you to have them if you're in any longer. I used the throw away nickers, too. That's another good reason for the cheap holiday sarongs- bold, dark patterns.
