Vaginal pain 4 months postpartum

Hi everyone,

I gave birth to my baby almost 4 months ago. It was a difficult delivery but long story short after pushing for 1 hr, he was born via emergency forceps. After this I was stitched up for a second degree tear (episiotomy was performed) and labial laceration. Then my placenta failed to detach so I had a manual removal of my (entire) placenta. The removal was difficult as placenta was well adhered and was not straightforward but the whole placenta was removed eventually after a long time scraping inside of my uterus and multiple attempts at removal. My stitches were also undone to allow for the placenta removal and I was stitched up for a second time.

My question is, 4 months later I still don't feel right. I have pain upon going to the toilet, a sort of pressure pain that sometimes means I have to stand up before I am done just to relieve the pressure. And I also have a lot of pain inside my vagina having sex. The pain is not unbearable so I went back and forth over whether to bother the GP over this.

I went to my GP who did an internal examination and said that she couldn't see much except that my posterior wall looked "pitted". Does anyone know what she means by this?

I asked if I was healed up and said said, "well you're not raw but not yet normal". She didn't seem particularly bothered or concerned by anything. She did mention that my episiotomy stitches had not held and so it had healed not quite right, but she seemed to think it had healed enough to not be worried.

I suppose my question is, do I need to be worried about not looking right down there or is that normal for what I've been through? I'm annoyed that I didn't push the GP to give more details but I was just uncomfortable and embarrassed and wanted to get out of there. This was the second time I have been to the GP for an internal examination (first time a different GP suspected I had an infection and gave me antibiotics), and so I was just embarrassed for complaining again.

Thanks!
