Those that had C section, did you feel the post birth lightness and relief of not being pregnant anymore or was that overpowered by not being able to move because of the stitches etc?

Also did you have a post birth high ?

I felt absolutely starving after they took out my 3 babies by sections. I know this makes no sense whatsoever but the minute they each delivered, I felt overwhelming hunger.

I had 2 vaginal births and an emergency c section with my third. I was miserable. I had horrible contractions for hours afterwards as if I was in labour. ( apparently this is a thing that is more pronounced the more births you have had?!) I knocked my cannula out and bled everywhere, and baby screamed for first couple of days. She is nearly 18 and I still have itchy scarring that reminds me regularly off those happy days. My 2 other births, I was out and about far sooner.

I feel like I missed out on some drugs here, all I got after mine was paracetamol and ibuprofen and it was very painful! It was still a much better experience than my vaginal birth though and amazing in lots of other ways

I don't think I had the lightness, but definitely had the high...

As soon as they dropped the curtain and pulled him out and I saw him, I remember thinking: "Wow this is amazing! I want to go this again!" So I think I got an immediate hormone rush. And then the next days and weeks I felt like I was high on oxytocin (maybe that was because of breastfeeding though? I don't know).

Mine was elective and, speaking to others in my NCT group, I almost felt like I had "cheated" a bit as I'd had a baby without having to have any pain beforehand or chaos or fear. But I think that's because it's more common to talk about bad births than good births - so those who had good vaginal births were staying quiet, as I mainly stayed quiet about my "good" c section.

I did have pain afterwards and was very stiff for the first couple of days moving around. But as I'd had no pain before the birth, that didn't seem like a terrible trade.

I had an ELCS with DC2. Even though I was in pain I can say I felt truly happy, I felt such a relief at it being over with (I’d had a hard pregnancy and worried for ages about the section itself…turns out nothing to worry about!).

I think it was helped for me by the fact that it was DC2 and DH and I were really prepared for what was coming and was genuinely excited to meet DC2 and understood the basics of looking after a baby! I was a mess after DC1 but even then I did feel a lot of relief as I suffered with crippling SPD first time around which seems to just magically disappear for me once the baby is out!

I’ve had both.

Vaginal birth definitely felt lighter - I felt like I could run a marathon and I’m not a runner.

C section - I couldn’t move, couldn’t see to the baby and had to wait for nurses or DH to help. Felt useless.
