Does anyone know if it's a good idea/safe to take the capsules to get things going. Heading towards 38 weeks and getting very fed up! Want to help things along if at all poss.
Thanks!

have heard of applying it directly to the cervix, but not sure how safe or recommended it is

www.gentlebirth.org got some good stuff about natural induction

sex and nipple stim are your best bets and lots of raspberry leaf tea to tone your uterus

When pg with ds1 I was told to take it orally from about 37 weeks. I took 1, 1500 mg capsule a day. It is just supposed to help ripen the cervix so it probably won't put you into labor. It won't do anything that the body wasn't ready to do on its own.

It also just a good overall supplement to take anyway, and can definitely recommend it for menstrual cramps.

Midwife recommended this if I got really desperate. I was told you need to take it vaginally- not sure how you'd get enough in the right place by taking it orally!

It apparently contains loads of prostins (more than semen). You'd need to pierce the capsules and squirt, I guess. As you may be able to tell I didn't get desperate enough to actually try it, but it did come on good recommendation...

I wouldn't try it until your due date though.

I drank loads of raspberry leaf tea in last few weeks (went 9 days over). Not convinced that it got things started but I did have a quick labour so it might have helped with that.

I was told that some midwives at the hospital I used to work at recommended this for women who were overdue and I have heard of it working. BUT I could not find any evidence of it being safe on the internet in fact many sites suggest not taking it while pregnant. This could of course be in case it causes pre term labour or something but I couldn't find anything to suggest it was a good idea to try it myself. Would be interested if anyone else has come across anything that suggests that it is safe.
