Being induced *trigger warning*

I have just discovered I am pregnant again after quite a lot of trauma from a previous birth which is causing some anxiety (emergency c section, aware of feeling being stitched up afterwards, going into septic shock in recovery, several nights on a high dependency ward in a private room, some blood transfusions, baby in neonatal) so for various reasons I would like to know if it is possible, either with an induced vaginal birth, or with a planned c-section, to ask to give birth at 37 weeks? Does anyone happen to know? Thank you.

Why 37 weeks? I’m not sure if you can dictate the exact gestation but you can request to discuss what happened last time and form a plan based on what’s best for you and the baby. 37 weeks may not be best for the baby.

Yes, why 37 weeks? I also experienced birth trauma last time and with my current pregnancy, I have opted to refuse induction in any circumstance and go straight to elective c-section if baby doesn't come independently before the end date set, which for me is 39.5 weeks as baby is measuring on bigger side. Unless there was a significant risk to you or baby, I think they'd want you to go closer to term.

For various reasons really. So that my partner and mum can be present (she would be visiting from abroad), for childcare reasons and also as it is likely I will need a cerclage stitch which are normally removed at 37 weeks anyway.

Random name change. I think if it’s medical because of the stitch they may say yes. I’m certain they wouldn’t say yes to 37 weeks because of childcare and visiting family though. Good luck with it all and congrats

Hospitals may differ but my hospital only offer from 38 weeks unless emergency

Ah okay the cerclage could make the difference in your circumstance I agree. It'll help to talk over your options and fears so you can be as reassured as possible as it gets closer. Congratulations BTW!! I'm 3 weeks off my planned section date now and hoping it all goes to plan this time!!
