Is it good or bad!? It's just been voted bottom of the country in a recent survey on maternity services, and that is where I'm due to give birth!

Not personally but have many friends who have - they have had mixed experiences - one was there recently (in Jan) under the community MWs and couldn't rave about them enough. But others have been less pleased, though this is going back a couple of years.

antenatal -good
labour ward - good
post natal - run for your life, although it was clean. On the bright side if you have an uneventful birth they'll discharge you in 6 hours letting you avoid much of the horrors.

Wonderful hospital - I was born there

Had dd1 there nearly 4 years ago. Was pretty good. The Ante-natal care I received was wonderful as I part of a 4 person midwife team. I therefore knew all the midwives very well by the time I was full term. The midwife who was on duty when I went into labour stayed with me for the duration (ie no 'my shift is finished, I'll leave you now with so and so') which I thought was wonderful for a first timer.

The hospital itself was pretty good too, however after the birth (midnight-ish) I was put into a post natal ward with about 6 other mothers - so no chance for sleep etc with babies and mothers all active at different times. That aside - all was well and the epidural I had etc was faultless.
