Childbirth

Is it safe for me to conceive again? (Any doctors lurking?!)

I had a horrible, traumatic, nearly 45 hour labour ending in an emergency c-section.

DH and I finally feel ready to TTC for a second (and last). There is no way I will labour again so there is absolutely zero desire to try for a VBAC.

I'm worried about my scar tissue being a potential issue. I still feel it/it gets sore nearly 2.5 years post op. I scar very easily in general anyway, and even get quite noticeable scar just from things like scratching a mosquito bite.

I'm worried this history means I'll have worse than average scar tissue, which could lead to a riskier surgery, lots of blood loss, worst case dying - not to mention a riskier pregnancy, risk of placenta prevaia etc. Does anyone have any advice around this?

Is there such a thing as a scan before conceiving to see how bad the state of scar tissue is? I'm 34 years old so slightly older too.

Please help! I want a second but want the peace of mind before trying, otherwise I am happy to put my health first and have my beautiful only.

Agree with previous poster, you need to get in touch with your GP because there’s just no possible way of anybody here knowing without having all of the details that only the medical professionals involved in your care have.

@tenderstem81 post op care was a joke. They discharged me with a cannula still in my hand, and didn't even offer me a wheelchair. Midwife only cared about getting my baby to latch properly.

I will seek medical advice from GP, was also just hoping to hear experiences from multiple C-section mums.
