Birth in mind service, case review

Hi all
I gave birth at Bassetlaw in jan 2023, when baby was five months I saw the birth in mind service for a birth debrief, to cut a very long story short I had an emergency C-section which i didn’t understand why it was needed. After going through the birth it seemed as though the midwife I saw agreed it wasn’t needed but she couldn’t give me a straight yes or no. She said she’d need to refer it to higher ups for a case review. She told me a couple of weeks and I’d hear back. Cut to now baby is 14 months and I’ve chased this up with emails and phone calls but the lady who responds to the emails isn’t the lady I saw for my debrief, this lady tells me she’s chasing it up with the lady that did the debrief and she’s very sorry and I will hear soon.

Im not sure what to do next, is a PALS complaint my only option? I have a feeling I’ll keep being strung along until I give up or I’ll just be told the c-section was necessary to keep me quiet

So they didn't explain to you at all? Even though I was meant to have a planned sect which had lots of info on, ended up with an emergency and they still went over it lots. Did you not sign any paperwork?

@DoreenonTill8 Yes I signed paper work. The reason for section was failed induction but based off the birth notes I was progressing albeit slowly and the midwife that did the debrief said I should have been given another two hours minimum if that’s what I wanted. It was presented to me like c-section was the only option which is the only reason I signed the paper work. I made it very clear I wanted to continue if possible. C section was being discussed from very early on but is not mentioned until much later in the birth notes, I believe they needed the birthing room I was occupying so saw pushing to accept a c-section as a quick fix

Sorry sorry this happened to you OP. Sadly happens too often.
When I had my first (at home to limit intervention) the midwives words were 'if you were in hospital they'd have dragged her out or cut her out by now and told you it was necessary just because it's taking a long time'. I had my second in hospital and was terrified of being pressured into intervention - thankfully not.
I don't know what your next steps should be but hopefully someone who knows more will be along.
