My daughter is due baby in march but he's breach and they have offered to turn the baby. Is this painful and does it hurt. And if he doesn't turn they said c section?

I've had 2 breech babies, both born by elective C-section at 39 weeks. They did try to turn the first baby, it was uncomfortable and didn't work (although that doesn't mean it won't work for your DD! Just worth remembering there are no guarantees), so I didn't ask them to try with DC2.

However you give birth there are risks (they will tell you all the risks of C-section if it comes to that - and they should still give you the option of vaginal birth), for me a C-section felt less risky for the baby. Maybe more risky for me - but the things that could happen to me felt lower impact (e.g. if the wound became infected, I would recover). Elective C-sections would also be less risky than emergency c-sections - everything was very calm and controlled. It's a personal choice though - a friend decided to deliver their breech baby vaginally and it all went very smoothly for them!

Thanks this baby is a rainbow baby after a loss at 18 weeks last year, so she's feeling anxious. She has a scan on Tuesday so we will know more then.

I had an ECV to turn my breech baby at 37 weeks, it wasn’t really painful but was quite uncomfortable. It worked though and I went into labour naturally a few weeks later, though ended in an emergency c-section anyway.

There is a very small risk of baby’s heart rate dropping when they try to turn them so they say to be prepared for an emergency c-section that day (very unlikely but they have to tell you). And there’s always a risk of something happening in labour anyway.
If she’s concerned with any of the risks of turning baby and okay with the idea of a c-section, I’d book the elective rather than have baby turned. It will be a much calmer experience than a potential emergency section, and you can book and plan for it.

My baby was breach at 37 weeks - was also anxious about it. I had an ECV to turn him, it didn't hurt, a bit uncomfortable and was successful so I went on to have a vaginal birth.
