Is age a factor in recovery after birth?

How quickly you are feeling better after birth, is it connected to your age?

My dd has just had a c-section 5 days ago now, and is acting like she just popped out a pea!

I have felt ill for weeks after all my births, and some of them I was young for

I have told dd not to over-due things as you will poay for it later, but every day she has felt better! Dont get me wrong, I am pleased for her, but also worried things might come crashing down in a week or so.

Waht do you think?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Congratulations g'ma Divvy, and your DD! I think age must play a huge part in recovery. They say 22 is the optimum age pysically to have a baby. How old is your DD?
I also think having supportive people around you can help with physical and mental recovery... sounds like your DD has that support.

Hi there,
I had an emergency C-section 3 years ago after 2 failed inductions and 24 hr of painful labour that was not going anywhere.
My ds was born at midnight and six hrs later I was up, had changed him, had had a shower. When my dh came to see us (they did not let him stay during the night), he was also amazed and worried that I was so well so soon.
Things got better and better and, despite the lack of sleep, I felt fantastic.
Everywoman is different, your dd will let you know if things change.
And congratulations !

wow Divvy congratulations! are you a gran, nana or what?
You are young as well as my nephew says to my mum, "Granny, you rock!"

oops missed a full stop
You are young as well. As my nephew says to my mum, "Granny, you rock!"

I was 19 when i had my first and will be 26 when this fourth baby is born, the first baby i was still wincing and walking like John Wayne for a few days after but dd2 &3 i was straight up and felt great. I think the number of children you have relates to how quick you get over it!
Divvy congratulations on becoming a nan, my mum was 38 and my dad was 37 when i had my first dd and its so lovely that they are young and can run around with them.

My dd is 19, and I am far to young to be called Granny

We do have a funny famly set-up now, as I also have a 1 year old, and am due another baby in July! Which is weirdly going to be dd's babies Uncle.

I want some of what dd is on for July for myself!

Divvy · 22/03/2008 10:39

I know that I am not the first and wont be the last woman to "re-fill" her nest. I am just lucky that I can.

How lovely, I am really enjoying being a mum to my 3.5month old ds and have a 20 year old dd. If I could I would have more.
