My partner has had 2 births by emergency C-section. 1st one was 6 years ago the 2nd one was less than 24 hours ago.

Both times the epidural was done and within 2 hours of the procedure, an emergency c-section was called.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

were you awake of was you put to sleep for the c section?

Awake but pretty out of it. I'd been awake for 3 days straight.

I had an emergency section due to failed induction and baby in distress. I didn't have an epidural.

Ok - my experience is the flip side. I had an epidural after induction and team were relieved when I asked for it. I imeadatly fell asleep then woke up when fully dilated (think the midwife woke me) and pushed baby out with an episiotomy but no further interventions. I went in with the statistics that epidurals lead to more likelyjood of forceps or c section and was reluctant. The hospital trust culture seems very much don't offer pain relief, wait till the mother asks but when I was relaxed after having my nap, midwife said that were glad i asked and the anethatist appeared imeadatly.

My mother was in a country that didn't do epidurals and she had a section. I think with a spinal tap. So really an epidural does not naturally lead to a c section.

I’ve had three emergency c sections and not had an epidural during labour, just a spinal once the decision to operate was made.
