Sage leaf tea to trigger labour - Any info? Is it safe?

I've been looking at French websites to see if tips differ, and it seems that sage is very popular there to induce labour (just as much as raspberry leaf tea for efficient contractions).
However, some seem to say that it's also bad for lactation.
I bought some sage leaf capsules today and it does say "not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women".
Some people absolutely swear by it and talk about going into labour within hours.
Any ideas??

For those who speak French, here's one of the websites I found.

Oooh, it's not too great then if it dries up the milk even before you've started bfeeding... Not sure it's worth risking?

Wow, that is french mumsnet Just remember though that a lot of women in France bottlefeed, correct me if I am wrong as my information may be a few years out of date but I believe that few women breastfeed in France.

I'm not too sure, I'm French but I've been here so long I'm a right Brit now!
I think they bfeed but not for long because maternity leave is shocking (fully paid but only a few weeks long) and state creches are great (so mums go back to work straight away). Bit sad isn't it?

tbh I had more than enough milk for DD but not sure I'm willing to risk it just to give birth a few days before...

Im not sure about sage leaf tea, but after being induced with each of my 3 previous pregnancies i was determined to go into labour naturally for fourth as i wanted a home birth. I tried rasberry leaf tea which i feel did help with labour. I decided to try aromatherapy and my midwife gave me a blend of clary sage, lavender and ylang extra one sniff and my waters broke !!! This blend also helped with pain relief throughout labour.

Thanks that sounds very promising, and less threatening than actually ingesting it! I might only have the capsules if I'm absolutely desperate and hours from induction!

in baby mag it recommends clary sage oil drops in bath, but only when in labour. I assume it helps to dilate!!

Have been doing clary sage baths for two weeks (am 40+2) to no avail.
