2nd C Section, what happens with your scar?

Hello,
This is my third pregnancy, my 2nd baby was a c section delivery and this one will be too. Im 18 weeks today so haven't discussed it properly yet so am wondering, when you have a second c section, do they do it through the scar already there?
I saw someone on instagram who will be having their third c section that during their second one they basically cut out their original scar is this true?
I get very queasy/anxious with medical things and I'm lucky that mine is not very noticeable at all, so just wondered what happens this time around, will it look worse after a second one?
Thank you for any advice x

Yes it's through the same scar, my consultant has said a second c section usually takes longer because they're going through scar tissue. No idea how it will look after, I assume fairly similar to be honest, but if I end up with c section no.2 next month I'll report back!

I had two c sections less than two years apart and the second one didn't change the appearance of the original scar that I could notice

I've had two ELCS - they went through the original scar. It's not any bigger the second time and I still don't have an overhang or anything. Recovery wasn't noticeably more difficult the second time around either.

My second scar is much worse than my first. First was tiny, neat and flat. This one is bigger, thicker and I have a c-section shelf. I hate it. My friend , on the other hand, had a terrible, jagged first scar (emergency section) but the second surgeon said he would tidy it all up and so her second scar is much neater. I think how your scar is depends so much on the surgeon and how it is stitched. I apparently have a lot of scar tissue.

The consultant who did my second section told me afterwards that she had tidied up my first! She said she gave me much neater edges. I can't say I noticed before or since.

I got an infection in my 3rd C-section scar because the old scar tissue didn't knit as well as 'scar on normal' or 'normal on normal' skin would have.

The surgeon told me he'd evaluate it before starting- if there were any thinner areas of scar, they'd do a different cut, but if it had all healed well first time he'd cut into the same one. My first wound was stapled- took ages to heal, but was barely noticeable and no shelf. Second was disolveable stitches- healed really quickly. It's only been 3 months so can't say for sure but it looks like it'll fade to nothing again, but have a definite shelf this time. Baby wasn't small though so I think skin has stretched more
