Labour symptoms stopped?

Hi
I am 40+5 and over the weekend have been having on and off contractions and my bloody show.
Yesterday my contractions were painful, 4-5mins apart and lasting over a minute for about 4 hrs. I went to sleep as per labor line advice and this morning I have had a few randomly, lost a bit more plug and have generally just been feeling nauseous. (And very moody and tired lol)

I feel like labour is on its way but howcome my contractions have just stopped?

Mine did that. They’d disappear for hours at a time. It was exhausting - you have my sympathies. In retrospect I should have spent the times when it receded trying to sleep rather than googling “why have my contractions disappeared” but I’m not sure I would have listened to my own advice here!

For me, baby was likely back to back, and kept wriggling around and getting into wrong position for delivery. I don’t know exactly why. Contractions started on Monday evening and he was born on Thursday. Lots of gaps. V annoying. But he’s a lovely teen now. All fine. I have no particularly good advice other than you are not alone, I had this too, for me it wasn’t that anything was going wrong and there wasn’t anything I could have done differently. Keep in contact with hospital but rest when you can.

This was happening to me for over 2 weeks! Albeit with no bloody show or mucus plug until i was an hour away from giving birth.

Got in the car twice to get to the hospital but both times they stalled.. its called prodromal labour. Just your body getting ready. Its so alarming and annoying though so i feel your frustration. Its also meant to signal you'll have a fairly fast progression. Keep rested and chilled as much as you can. Keep the oxytocin levels high by looking at baby stuff and you'll be ready in no time.

That labour was sooo different in every way from my first birth. There is no "right" way to labour. Hoping everything gets moving for you asap!!

Thank you, i think my baby may also be back to back!

@sadie68 this is me too OP. So frustrating. I’m 40+10 second baby. First was born 40+11, symptoms started and ramped up quickly. This time I’ve had contractions mainly at night (2-3am ish) for over a week now. They’ve been getting worse the last few nights but still keep stopping after an hour or two. Last night despite them being so painful I managed to sleep quite a bit between them. Must be exhausted. I don’t think my baby is back to back but it is a wriggler. Really hoping it comes before Thursday when I’ve got my induction booked 😭 x

My labour that was like this was very quick and easy once I was in active labour. Hope it’s the same for you!

Sounds exactly same as me! I have a proper wriggler, no idea what shes getting up to in there 😂 ive had another day of random contractions, nausea, more show and pelvic pain but induction booked for tomorrow. Hope if your little one doesn't come before Thursday that all goes well! X
