Vbac vs Elective Csection

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well. I am currently expecting second baby. DD1 is now 4 years old. A few days before her due date I had reduced movement so decided to go into hospital, I was then rushed into theatre within half an hour to have an emergency c section. Therefore I did not experience any labour.

I am now contemplating whether to try for a vbac or opt for an elective. Would be lovely to hear your experiences especially if you've had a successful vbac following no labour or an elective c section and how that went for you xx

Well I ummed and arghed a lot but now going for a vbac but with a quicker cut off to go for a section if it’s not going to plan. Due next week so I’ll let you know!

I had a planned section after emergency first time round - personally found it a fantastic choice. I recovered so much quicker from the elective than the emergency as I wasn't shattered from labour. Plus sorting childcare for the oldest was straightforward!

Breastfed both with no issues if that's something that worries you.
Good luck whichever way you go!

I had an elective after an emergency - it was really calm & lovely, emotional for all the right reasons that time.

As PP said, the predictability & ease of childcare was a huge bonus. We took the opportunity to go for a meal together the night before as it would be the last chance for a while.

The decider for me was that I was told they won't let you push as long with a section scar, so assistance is more likely.
Not sure how true that is but it felt reasonable.

I had an emergency Csection, followed by a VBAC 15 months later and a planned C section 4 years after that. All very different births, but the VBAC was great and actually laid to rest for me a lot of trauma from the emergency Csection..

this was my plan too but then discovered DC2 was unstable lie at 39+ weeks and had an elective 2 days later. in comparison to first (induction and cascade of intervention to emcs) it was lovely. Still no walk in the park but so so much better than first, recovery much easier too.

What’s an unstable lie and how did you know?
