Homeopathic remedies for after delivery?

I am having a planned section, and I am wondering if there is anything useful to get to help stay peaceful and calm after birth? I have arnica already to try but I have heard of other remedies people have used with success but can't think of them!

Or am I mad

I found that right after delivery my hormones were all over the place and lavender and other aromatherapy oils made me feel quite ill. Just try to have peaceful people around and seeing your little one should be quite soothing even during those crying seconds,minutes...hours ;)

I had a c-section recently and have used remedies to aid healing. Calendula tincture directly on stitches, and Bellis Perennis and Staphisagria remedies, either 30 or 200c. Aconite is a good remedy for shock too, although haven't used that.

You can order them from Helios or Ainsworths pharmacies and they will post them.

Congrats and wish you all the best.

Thanks mamamelly, I am just trying to be prepared, have had two "bad" c/s in the past and I want to be as happy and calm as possible. Anxious is a word I could use

Mitfordsisters that sounds great, I had heard of Bellis Perennis - and will google the rest! DId you find them any help?

I was up and about very quickly and my section was totally unexpected so I was a but stunned. I think staphisagria is generally useful after operations esp from the psychological aspect. Bellis Perennis is recommended for deep incisions - my abdominal tenderness and offensive discharge (sorry, tmi) improved after a dose. Also, no probs with my tummy stitches though can't say if that is just down to the calendula tincture. I can't say any of it helped with any certainty, but I generally find homeopathics helpful to shore me up physically and mentally, and sometimes they are downright amazing if you hit on the right remedy. I'd always recommend them and don't give a monkeys what others think - whatever helps you, just do it.

I think you are right, I just want to feel proactive in my healing rather than just take my drugs .

Thanks - very helpful indeed!

I have the birth kit from Ainsworth and this is what they recommend for a CS:

  • Arnica - to promote healing and reduce trauma at both mental and physical levels. Take before and after a CS.
  • Bellis Perennis - follows well after Arnica. Relieves pain and accelerates repair of abdominal and pelvic areas.
  • Hypericum - for cut or injured nerves. Can be taken alongside Arnica prior to surgery. It reduces the likelihood of infections.
  • Ignatia - the major remedy for loss and grief, particularly for the emtoional crisis and acute disappointment that can follow an unhappy childbirth. This could be from the distress of medical intervention, etc. It releases the tension and allows for the grief to follow its natural course.
  • Phosphorus - to antidote the effect of anaesthesia and the spaced out feeling following surgery.
  • Staphisagria - specific for surgery and being 'cut up' physically and mentally. It accelerates the repair of lacerated wounds and repairs the mental damage.

HTH. Good luck!

try Bach's flower remedy to help steady your nerves too, really helped for me. Arnica was fantastic and healed a lot better second time round. Very best of luck

My third delivery was an emergency section after a lovely homebirth. I had the helios birth kit and was planning to use it for another homebirth. It was really good for the CS, and made me feel as though I had a bit of control post-recovery. I also put lavender oil in a bowl of warm water. The midwives in hospital said they loved coming into my room as it smelled so nice.

Good luck!
