Recurrent reduced foetal movement and induction

Hi all,
Just looking for other peoples experiences really. I have had several episodes of reduced foetal movement over the past weeks and months (currently 38 weeks). I have been monitored each time and a couple of times they had found that baby had a high heart rate (peaking around 190bpm). If this happens again (touch wood, it doesn't!) are they likely to offer me an induction? I was reading on a thread on here that someone else was offered an induction due to reduced foetal movement and want to prepare myself! Thanks ☺️

I was induced at 35W for reduced movement. It took 5 days in total for her to arrive at 35+5. How are you feeling?

@dreamcatchmee oh that's interesting - were your CTG's all ok? I'm getting very fed up, I've got SPD, as well as constantly worrying about baby's movements! I've had high BP at times throughout pregnancy too. All of this makes me wonder if they will offer induction!

Everything always looked fine for me, but I went for an ultrasound due to the few episodes of reduced movement and the sonographer noted a lack of movement that was expected so I was told to go home, pack a bag and return for induction! I also had SPD, and it is just horrible isn't it! I feel for you, but if it helps- my SPD pretty much disappeared after birth! It's so worrying wondering if they're ok ❤️

@dreamcatchmee gosh, that must have been a bit of a panic for you!! Yeah my CTG's haven't always been great but scans have always been fine! I'm seeing the consultant tomorrow so I might mention it then and see what they say. The worry is driving me mad!

It's nice to know your options. I've been induced twice and it can be quite a journey. My second was full term and induction was effective immediately, but with my first at 35W it did take a lot of time so keep in mind. Wishing you and your baby health and happiness. Let us know how you get on with your consultant :)

Thank you @dreamcatchmee I'll let you know how I get on ☺️

Should say 'wasn't expected'

Yes please! Take care of yourself x

I had 3 episodes of reduced movement with my first but when checked, all looked fine. The last was when I was 36 weeks and they said if it happens one more time, they would look to bring my c section date forward. Fortunately it never happened again.

Glitterb · 08/01/2024 14:48

I was offered an induction at 38 weeks after 3 x episodes of reduced movements, it actually turned out that I was already 3cm dilated when they went in the fit the balloon and she was born the next day. An induction could have taken up to 2 weeks in our area depending on when a bed was available on the labour ward.

@Evanesy yeah, im really hoping it won't happen again. I'm so super aware of baby's movements now because of the high heart rate and reduced movements previously!

@Glitterb my local hospital always seems so busy, I'm sure if they offer an induction I'll probably go into labour before it can happen anyway! 😂
