What date was your elective c section?

Due august, so obviously very very early days but we have been trying for a while and I am very excited and already planning like a lunatic! If this pregnancy sticks, I will book an elective c-section. I have read enough mumsnet threads on this topic to feel strongly about this now.

I have read that c-sections will be scheduled “week 39” but wondering what that means in practice. So, I wondered if you could share what your due date was and what was your elective c-section date? And did you get a choice of dates or just given the date? If you went private did you get more choice about dates?

I know it sounds silly but one of the dates near my due date is my grandmas birthday and I would love to have same birthday for DC but sure how realistic that is!

I got my elcs date booked in last week when I was 29+6 for exactly 39 weeks!

40+1. I was given a choice of various dates from 39+3 onwards. Booked in around 20 weeks at consultant appt.

@LittleBrownBaby thank you 💜

@anicecuppateaa not yet, I haven’t even told my DH yet as plan to surprise him on Christmas morning if I keep testing positive - I am scared to jinx it by telling him too soon - want to get a week past AF due at least 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

What exactly makes you want a CS?

My son was due 19/2/14 and got scheduled for 14/02/14. Didn't get a choice.

I was booked in for mine 4 days before her due date. They were aiming for 5 days before but the consultant wasn't available so we went for the day after.

@ReindeerShelter emotionally, I would love to have a vaginal birth, and even the idea of a home birth appeals to me. But for me this is outweighed by the risk of birth injuries and long term impacts of those, particularly incontinence. My mother had a really bad tear and needed surgery to correct later in life. Also, all of my friends bar one who aimed for a vaginal birth needed to be induced and ended up with a emcs anyway. Someone I know recently almost got sepsis after being left to push for hours even though baby was back to back, then had an emcs where they nicked her bladder and she had a huge amount of blood loss. Her cousin very tragically died of sepsis the same week from a difficult birth followed by a emcs (in the UK) so I would rather just plan for it with an elcs.

Due date 17th
C sec on 13th. Superstitiously didn't want 13th but they would only book electives on Wednesdays so had to be that.

@Schoolrunmumbun number 13 is an auspicious number and means “assured growth” or “definitely vibrant” in Chinese culture, so I’d go with that!
