How long was your induction?

Once you arrived at hospital how long were you there for and I guess what was each stage, then how long were you in recovery afterwards?
bonus points if it was a vbac!

trying to work out how long it might all take and if a C-section would actually be quicker if overdue. Don’t want to leave my firstborn for days.

I was induced at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes.

I had to call on the day (Wednesday) to see if there was availability and was told to come in at 4pm. I sat around for hours, they were so sloooow. I was given the balloon late evening, I was very restless and tired by then. Had a dreadful night's sleep (about 2 hours according to my Fitbit) and finally started getting contractions early in the morning (about 5am Thursday). I spent the day walking around and bouncing on the ball to try and make progress. That evening I was examined by a midwife who said I was 1cm (I was devastated, thought I was further along!) and that she could feel my baby's hand!!

They gave me the choice of going to sleep for the night or getting a pessary. I was exhausted so chose to sleep and sent DP home. Snuggled down with my nose strip, eye mask, gaviscon and ear plugs that DP had brought in for me. Then a consultant came around midnight to see what this hand business was about. It turned out to be a foot and they recommended an emergency CS because of how dangerous footling presentations were. I was so tired that I tried to persuade them to leave me to sleep and do it in the morning 😂 but because I'd been having contractions they said nope.

Baby was born at 3.30am on Friday. Taken away from me until 6am because he had breathing difficulties.

I was then in for a further 5 days because I couldn't get him to breastfeed and there was a suspected infection. So I was in a week total. The nice thing was access to drugs and the bed that moved up and down for you.

I think next time if I don't go into spontaneous labour I will opt for an ELCS because I can't be faffing with all that again.
