Hi everyone,
I'm really nervous and definitely calling triage once I've posted this!
This is my 3rd child - DD1 was 12 years ago and came at 35 weeks spontaneously and DD2 is 11, came at 37 weeks spontaneously.
I've been having what I thought were intense Braxton Hicks since yesterday afternoon, but there was no real regularity to them, they just kept coming, so thought I was being a drama queen so just tried to lay/walk/rock/stand and sleep it off. Eventually I fell asleep.
Today, same thing since early afternoon but they have some regularity but not much, and are now coming with a burning achey pain in the middle of my back right at the bottom. They started off around every 25 mins then went all the way down to 10 mins apart - took a walk around Aldi thinking maybe I just need to be more active as worked from home today, but I had to quickly get back in the car as it didn't help!
Came home and noticed some more of my mucous plug had gone, not much - about size of 5 pence coin. This happened before about less than a week ago but thought nothing of it as I know they can regenerate and I was having no pains or anything at that time.
I took some paracetamol and tried to lay down thinking it would ease off and the pains have slightly eased but still feel them (more so in my back), however they're back to 20 mins again.
I've tried staying hydrated, making sure my bladder is as empty as possible, laying down, sitting up, standing up, sitting on a ball, watching tv to keep my kind off it - they're still there but I'm not in agony.
I'm nervous because of the girls coming a bit early but they weren't this early! Im literally about to call triage and see what they say, maybe I am being a drama queen, but in the meantime - has anyone else experienced similar? It's been so long since I had the girls that I feel new to all this again and embarrassed to admit that to everyone.
Any advice greatly appreciated - I will update with what the midwives say after I've spoken to them incase any one is asp going through something similar!
Thank you all! X

Get to labour ward. If you are in preterm labour, the sooner they see you, the more chance of stopping it. And also, if they can't stop it, the more chance of getting in steroids to help with baby's breathing, which can make a big difference.

Just rang triage but it rang through for a while then cut off, I'm assuming they must be really busy which is making me feel worse but trying again as I don't want to take any chances!
Someone please tell I'm panicking for no reason though and everything's ok!

Go down there, don’t wait for things to escalate

Go to the maternity assessment unit asap. Don’t wait for them to answer the phone. Hope everything is ok!

Yes either go down there or ring maternity assessment unit. I started with period pains at 29+3. They were about 10 minutes apart and I had a lot of red blood coming out. Within 2 hours they were 2 minutes apart and very strong. Dd2 was born spontaneously 7 hours later. If I hadn’t gone down it might have ended badly. You’re not being a drama queen, you’re doing what’s right for you and baby. Goodluck!

All is ok, thank God! They checked to see if cervix had opened but it hasn't, but they said I may have a slight infection which could be causing the pain - they'll call me with results in 48-72 hours and take it from there. If pain gets worse then to call in but other than that they said to see how I get on as all seems well at the moment. I do feel like a drama queen but definitely glad I went in, if anything for ease of mind.
Thanks again for jumping in everyone, I appreciate it!
