Any reason not to? Will they know? 😯

This made me smile. Is sticking your fingers into a vagina a lot more unpleasant because you can see semen? Surely in amongst the lubricating gel and natural vagina discharge a third liquid isn't really that much more unpleasant?

Edited

Just a personal ick I suppose. It makes me gag when I see it coming out of my own vagina hours after sex, I feel like we are all allowed our own quirks!

Yes it's normal for women to be sexually active, it's part of the job, it's over quickly with gloves straight in the bin and I don't hesitate to do any necessary examination. But that doesn't mean I have to enjoy every second. I'm also aware examinations are generally far worse for the patient than the HCP and I never drop the smile, conversation and professionalism no matter what I encounter.
Like a PP said a wash beforehand is welcome, however I have patients for whom that isn't always an option and I get on with examining just the same.

@Destiny123 yeah was definitely a midwife I didn't even know what drug she was referring to I was on so many so actually glad you replied and explained what it was for. My birth was never really a explained to me I had to go back i to surgery after rmy csection as was haemorrhaging and I don't even know what they did or tbh anything. Was four years ago now and had the pandemic inbetween

It will be misoprostol, its given rectally to stop bleeding but s/e is diarrhoea

Sorry you had a bad experience. There's a specialist after births team on all labour wards if you call up they'd be happy to arrange an after birth debrief (there's another term I can't remember off thr top of my head), where they'll fer your notes and explain everything and you can ask questions of you feel it would be helpful to you x
