Back to back baby

So, I'm currently 36 weeks pregnant with a back to back baby, and starting to worry about it.

This is my second baby, and my first was back to back which resulted in a 52 hour labour (including early labour obvs). From my first contractions it took about 36 hours to get to 4cm. The pain in my back from 1-4cm was horrific. Baby did evenutallu turn, but not until i was about 9cm. However I didn't know baby was back to back until I was in the hospital, and in a lot of pain.

So obviously I'm gutted I could be facing this again - and trying to do all I can to lean forward, bounce on my ball etc to get baby to move. I'm also reading info on spinning babies and going to do some of those recommended moves.

However, my question is, what actually worked for people to turn baby, before going into labour? I've read some things online about just doing the moves as and when you go into labour, as the contractions themselves have more chance of helping turn baby while doing the yoga moves. And if I manage to get them to turn now, they might just flip back again over night.

I'm trying not to worry but it's hard not to, I so wanted to have a better labour experience this time so feel like I should be doing something now to help turn them.

Stories and advice welcome!

Unfortunately I have no real advice but lots of sympathy. I had a back 2 back labour, I was induced so wasn’t allowed to move either which I think is the worst thing you can do during labour if your baby is back to back. I had no idea she was facing that way until a midwife mentioned it quite late on before the pushing stage! I had no previous labour to compare it to but the horrific back pain then made sense. I was left a bit traumatised afterwards so did lots of research and read that crawling everywhere on all fours can help to turn them. I hope you have a really positive experience this time, good luck!

Not of much help sadly, I have had two back to back babies, neither of whom turned before or during labour. Midwife and obstretician think it's due to my pelvic anatomy.

With second baby I was doing spinning babies and specific yoga moves endlessly but didn't work for me. Apparently works for many though.

To offer you some help though - second labour was much faster (50+ hours and eventually needing the hormone drip for first vs ~12 hours, of which about 6 in active labour for second and no induction or augmentation needed).

I needed epidural with both as couldn't cope with the pain, it was completely unbearable.

First also needed rotational forceps and delivery in theatre, second needed ventouse, which in comparison hardly felt like an intervention at all, was very gentle in comparison.

Get down on all fours, but if baby prefers back to back there isn’t a lot you can do. Like pp said, it’s probably your anatomy.

I'm 38weeks with a big baby that's back to back. Pretty terrified!
This is my 3rd baby & the other 2 we're big babies but we're not back to back.
I've been offered an induction at due date but currently declined as I see that adding more risk.
Been trying spinning babies moves, figures of 8 on ball & leaning over as much as possible. No idea if it's turned or not, prob think it hasn't.

Sorry not much help but full sympathy to how you feel!
Prayers for our little ones to turn around asap.

I delivered DD2 without knowing she was back to back. Only 3 hours from show to delivery. She also had her arm above her head, thanks baby! Bit stingy, as no pain relief because arrived at hospital 8cm, delivered within hour, but no probs or issues, so it may not be terrible second time round. Good luck.

If it had turned you'd know. It's the oddest sensation!! I think I was about 38 weeks when my last one turned. I honestly don't know how to describe it. Not at all painful just weird!
Good luck to you both in getting them turned. No other advice then spinning babies and a rebozo wrap (Etsy!) That's what I used.
