RD&E (Exeter) experiences - especially if you had an elective section

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone would be willing to share their experiences of the RD&E in Exeter, particularly if you had an elective section?

I’m only 7 weeks so far with DC1, so still a long way to go, but I think an elective is the route I’d prefer to go down at the moment, and I want to find out as much about what I’m going into as possible, in preparation!

Did you find it relatively straightforward to request a section? Were the consultants/midwives supportive?

How was your recovery afterwards? What is the postnatal ward like, and how long was it until you could go home?

Thank you for reading 🙂

Hopeful bump for the afternoon crowd (but appreciate that this is a very specific query!) 🙂

One more bump in case anyone’s on this evening who can share any experiences 🙂

I requested a CS in Exeter and the midwife was very supportive when I explained my reasons. I had to speak to the perinatal mental health team and explain my decision to them too, they were also great. Saw the consultant, explained reasons again, and they were also lovely. When it came to it, I didn't get the CS as I went into labour naturally and the baby was born before I could get the CS. The postnatal ward was busy and I didn't get much sleep, but the staff were very kind and supportive.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience 😊 I’m planning to write out my reasons closer to the time and get my thoughts in order before I speak to a midwife.

Thank you again, hope you and your DC are doing well 🙏🏼
