Polyhydramnios and big baby?

I'm 32+6 and after my growth scan this morning was told baby is currently around 5lb 14oz Confused obviously I know growth scans can be inaccurate but taking it as being accurate, I'm trying to go through my options. I've been offered an induction or section at 39 weeks (all going well at my growth scan in a few weeks time) but am feeling really anxious. I've also been told I have polyhydramnios, a few weeks ago the fluid was just at the 'upper limit' but now it's quite a bit over. GD test was negative 2 weeks ago.

Looking for experiences of those who had a predicted big baby and polyhydramnios and if you opted for a section or induction (or spontaneous labour)?

I have been leaning more towards induction (variety of reasons before todays scan/appt).l but now I'm not sure after being spoken to about shoulder dystocia etc. My main concern is that my daughter was much smaller than this baby is predicted to be and she got stuck on her way out as well, so now if this baby is bigger I'm really worried about that happening again. I had a lot of intervention with her birth and I found it all really traumatising.

Has anyone had both these and what did you pick? I feel totally clueless and really stressed about it all

I had polyhydramnios with my first baby. I was induced as was showing signs of pre eclampsia. It took a long time and I ended up with a cascade of complications and my cervix didn't dilate beyond 9cm plus baby had a 99th centile bonce. She was 9lb 6 and we were both quite poorly for a while.
With my second I was brought in for induction at 38 weeks. He was measuring big too but not polyhydramnios. After the pessary failed I opted for a section due to the trauma of my daughters birth. It was very calm, we both recovered pretty quickly and I was pushing his pram by day 4 and felt much better. He was 8lb13 and had his head jammed into the side of my pelvis so wasn't in a good position to induce labour.

However that's just me. I know a couple of women who had it and their babies were 10lb and they had their waters broken and that just set everything in motion It's hard to predict one way or another. My friend who has a daughter with dystocia opted for a C section for her second and felt much happier for it. Too

I had polyhydramnios and a predicted big baby a few months ago. Growth scans turned out to be accurate. He was born at 40+3 at 9lbs. I am pretty small so that was off the chart big for me!

I had regular growth scans and monitoring in the last few weeks and was tested for GD twice because the consultant didn't believe I didn't have it 🙄 consultants did push for induction but I refused as induction carries risk of shoulder dystocia and haemorrhage, the same as a big baby, and I've heard so many induction horror stories. The midwives were very supportive though regarding my choice.

I had 2 sweeps to try and get things going which seemed to work. Labour lasted about 5 hours (my first baby was 4) and I had no pain relief out of choice, no interventions and although I was monitored, the midwife helped me change position etc. Overall it was a positive birth experience and close to my preference for no interventions. No problems with the birth, not even much tearing.

If it had come down to it, I would have gone for a section over induction as for me a planned section would be much more relaxed than an emergency section after a failed induction that went on for hours, which seems to happen a lot.

I had it with an unstable lie, so spent 3 weeks on ante-natal ward, anticipating a 10 lb baby, with a planned c-section at 39 weeks. Day of op, baby had gone head down and they sent me home. I went back in 2 weeks later to be induced, but ended up with an emcs anyway. I wish I stuck to my guns for the planned section with hindsight. Dd was 8lb 2 oz

No GD in my case either
