Has anyone had a scar neuroma after episiotomy/tear?

DD was born in Feb last year, hospital messed up sewing after a bad tear & episiotomy and I had surgery in May to fix it.

A scar neuroma has now formed, incredibly painful and I've got to have another op at the end of the month to sort it out.

Any tips/advice very welcome please!!

I don't kbnoew what a scar neuroma is but I had something silmilar after ds1. Essentiallly my tear didn't heal. It was 2nd deg, internal and external, and I had patches of necrotic (ie rotting) tissue throughout. It was cauterised 2 or 3 times with silver nitrate (IIRC), but still didn't heal. I had the necrotic tissue cut out when ds1 was 8m. It was done under GA, but as a day patient.

The most important thing to be prepared for - which I didn't - is that it will be far more uncomfortable than it was after giving birth. When you give birth vaginally the nerves are stretched adn, although it hurts like stink and you thin you can feel everything, in fact you are somewhat numbed. Boy can you feel everything after having a repair! So, hire a valley cushion, have help lined up so that you can rest, and don't stint on the pain killers. See if you can get voltarol (voltaren?) suppositories prescribed. They are fantastic, and deliver the pr right to where it's needed - so don't be squeamish.

It was worth going through the discomfort of the repair, because things were so much better afterwards. TBH it didn't sort out all the post-natal pain in that area, but at least I was able to conceive dd ( I'm sure you know what I mean). I tore again with her birth, along the scar but not as badly, and that time it all healed up perfectly.

Forgot tpo say that tearing with dd semmed to re-arrange me, somehow, and the pain never came back.

Thanks for this - I'll try and track down a pillow and get some serious painkillers!

It was seriously sore after op last summer but hoping it won't be so bad this time, as area isn't quite so big (or that's what the consultant's told me!?!) Prepared for 2 weeks imobility though... v dull

Glad to hear that dd sorted everything out for you & thanks again

Hi wondering if you could give me some tips on after surgery of removal of a neuroma? Its not something you can find online easily so I guess it's not that common?

I had my baby 5 months ago and cant go to the toilet without using local anestetic. We were treated disgustingly by the hospital (currently with the head of midwifery hense quick appointment) and I was very lucky to be coming home with a baby at all, long list of negilance and my baby was ready to be delivered at 1pm but wasnt born until 11.10pm- she was left so long she turned and got stuck and I was rushed to theatre and she was born by vontuse and an epitosimy. I then contracted MRSA. Last month I saw the top consultant and I have developed a neuroma which has to be removed and I also need refashioning.( solicitor has advised that I was cut wrong and too deep and that is what has caused the nerve damage) Iv'e got post traumatic stress disorder following my daughters birth so am quite anxious about this surgery and am keen to know the healing time etc. and any tips that anyone can give me??

Thanks so much :)
