Cs around Christmas

There’s a chance I’ll need a c section (possible placenta previa) but 37 weeks is Christmas week! How do they book these in, is it just the bank holidays they avoid? Anyone had one around then?

They booked me in at 39 weeks. Is there a reason you think it’ll need to be so early?

Labour is very dangerous for placenta previa so my consultant told me if it doesn’t change it’ll be 37 weeks.

Even if it was 39 weeks, how do they arrange it with the bank holidays?

I would prefer a later date if possible! As I don’t like the idea of it being so early either.

I was booked in to be induced on 23rd, nothing worked, c section on Xmas Eve, she arrived at 12pm and I went home boxing day. Hospital was on skeleton staff and it was eerily quiet on my ward until a few mums arrived on Xmas day. Had a Christmas dinner and a visit from Santa, all very very surreal! Good luck!

Yes they book you in avoiding the bank holidays so this year would be 27th, 28th or 29th December that electives would be booked on.
In my hospital if there are too many women needing electives in Christmas week than there are theatre slots, they will ask staff to work extra shifts to assemble an extra theatre team at weekends either side of Christmas. This allows for more slots to be available for women without interfering with the emergency provision.

I had an emcs at 36+5, ds was fine & if I hadn't been so poorly I would have been discharged after 24 hours. Ds was a good weight & full apgar score.
