VBAC

I'm 30 week so still got a while to decide.
I was just wondering if anyone have a VBAC after an emergency C-section were they didn't labour at all.

I'm really undecided on what to do.
I would like a much quicker recovery as I have a toddler.

My midwife said a VBAC is preferable and that it would be like having my first baby as I didn't labour at all.
So I guess I'm scared of a natural as it's the unknown and I know it could also just end in a C-section anyway.
Although I wonder if it's an experience I would have liked to have known I've given ago.

Just wondering other people's stories if they regretted a VBAC at all or regretted not trying for one

I'm literally in the same situation!.I'm really interested to hear people's views on this.

I had a VBAC after emergency C due to undiagnosed breech.

I preferred it. Got to go home within a few hours. Had some stitches, felt bruised, but generally no issues.

So I am only 26 weeks and have spoken to my midwife and consultant.
My plan:
Planned c section unless I go into natural labour before hand.

I am happy with this plan, my waters broke early last time which all professionals have agreed it was because of a sweep I had too early (37 weeks)

I reckon you'll have a 50/50 split on VBAC vs C-section. I'll tell you my story and you can put it on one side or the other of the tally. My midwife touted VBAC but it was a swizz for me.

My vote is C section every time.

DD1 - C section after labour. Started labour naturally, slowed with epidural, baby in awkward position. Good C-section, healthy baby, easy recovery.
DD2 - VBAC. Sweep to no effect, induction leading to natural labour (total 4hrs). Healthy DD2 born vaginally despite a slow phase when I worried she was O2 deprived. I had a small tear stitched up with gas'n'air: grim - felt the thread going in and out! .
THEN placental adhesion, I nearly bled out; 2 hrs in theatre and week in hospital plus weekly visits. Damage to undercarriage = incontinent! catheter = can't walk, much less drive! Yet every consultant/dr who saw me in hospital trumpeted the amazing benefits of VBAC!! Extra, reconstructive surgery needed at 11mos - just when I should have been settling back into work!

Still outraged that all hospital staff tried to say that VBAC was better when I was lying in bed incontinent.

It was more than 10 years ago but I still wish I'd insisted on a second C=section.

@tarheelbaby it's ultimately my choice if I go c section or VBAC with my hospital and its stories like yours that makes me lean towards a CS. I'm worried about tearing or ending up having an emergency section again. My first was planned c section as my son was breech and I know its a longer recovery after c section but I can't help feeling its an easier one

@Cuddles21 I agree that the recovery from C-section is longer but ultimately easier. You'll have your whole mat leave to do it and at the beginning, you'll have friends/family geared up to help. Also, even if you can't drive, you'll be able to walk. Post VBAC, I couldn't leave the house because I couldn't walk any further than from room to room!
