High Risk- Having to spend early labour in hospital

I’m due my baby in a few weeks, and found out recently that the consultant wants me to be in hospital as soon as I start having contractions. I’m happy with this, it actually seems sensible given the risks I have with labour this time around.

However, I’m nervous how being stuck in hospital so early on (likely on a ward until I reach active labour) is going to affect my labour progress.

Has anyone done this? Any tips on what might help keep me calm/ make it more likely I can progress?

I was induced with my first so spent time wandering around the ward, watching tv. Then gradually progressed through paracetamol, tens machine, having a bath etc until my waters broke then I was moved to the labour rooms and got the good drugs.

My DH and mum (taking turns were able to stay with me from when I arrived at 8am until the end of visiting hours in the evening at 8pm. My DH was allowed to return when my waters had broken at 4am and I was transferring to the labour rooms.

With my second I was in hospital for about 3 weeks before the birth but had my own ensuite room so that made a huge difference.
