Hyperstimulation

Hi all. Had my first baby and was induced with a pessary. My contractions started pretty quickly and I soon realised they were coming very close together (six every ten minutes) which I found really hard to cope with. I had reduced movements so went on the monitor at which point one of the midwives realised I was hyper stimulated and said she would get the doctor to give me something to slow things down. This never happened and I ended up with a forceps delivery in theatre as I was exhausted.

My lovely midwife has already referred me for birth reflections but just wondering in the meantime if anyone else had a similar experience and if anything was done to slow your contractions?

TIA

Hi OP - I had this, they stopped the syntocin drip I was on and gave me Terbutaline (Bricanyl) injection because my baby's heartrate was not coping with the contractions. My situation was probably a bit more serious as they were extremely concerned re: baby decelerations and potential hypoxia.

Thank you for the reply. I had reduced movements so was put on a monitor where they said the trace was 'a bit flat' so maybe she was a bit distressed but not distressed enough. Hopefully things will be clearer once I've had the debrief with reflections.
