Second pregnancy pph

Going to try for a second baby this year but with my first I had a pph due to my uterus not contracting along with forceps and an episiotomy, what are the chances of it happening again?
Literally felt like I was dying first time round from blacking out on surgery table and so scared it will happen again

What about elective c section?

What about elective c section?

Isn't there more chance of a higher blood loss?

I had a pph after my 3rd and then again after my 4th.
The 4th was so much better because they were aware I had a previous pph so had everything in the room ready and were on high alert. It was sorted very quickly and I didn't even know about it until I asked afterwards.
Try not to worry, it is more common if you have had a previous one in an earlier pregnancy but this will be highlighted multiple times in your notes and from my experience as a midwife, in big bold letters on the board so all drs and midwives are aware of what could potentially happen if that bell goes off.

I had a pph with my first and when I was pregnant with my second, we discussed it and I was given an injection to help my uterus contract once the baby was out. No pph second time round.

My recovery was fantastic after my second in comparison to my first.

Happened with my 1st and 2nd, with the 2nd being worse. Now pregnant with my 3rd and more precautionary measures in place! Got a consultancy meeting after 20 weeks which I've never had. Midwife said they will be "watching me like a hawk".

Haven't been recommended to have a section as the blood loss can be higher (however, controlled a bit easier).

I have read that if you've had one it doesn't mean you'll have another xx

I had a pph with my first and was super anxious for my second. They were also much more prepared incase it were to happen again but fortunately it did not. Whole birth experience was much more positive second time around.

If you have had a previous PPH then they will make sure you are given at least one 'uterotonic' drug that makes your uterus contract after delivery to deliver the placenta. If you had one dose last time and still had a PPH then they can give a combination of drugs if necessary.
An elective c section as pp have said will not reduce the risk of PPH, in fact there is a higher risk of blood loss, albeit in a controlled, calm environment.

They will also have everything ready in the delivery room if you were to have another, as you have been known to have one before. Hopefully this time will be smoother for you, and you don't experience this again.
