What happens if you go into labour before c-section confirmed?

For various reasons related to birth of my DC1, I'm under consultant led care. In particular, this relates to my mental health so they've been really understanding about my options and which route I want to take.

I've got an appointment at the end of this week with my consultant to talk through my options and I'm almost 100% certain I'm going to request a c-section.

I'm 32 weeks at the moment so the chances of going into labour before the meeting are extremely slim.

However, it's playing on my mind so something I was hoping to clarify - if I went into labour this week (before my appointment on Friday), what would happen? Would they likely listen to me anyway and allow me to have a c-section (obviously subject to not being too dialated etc)?

Yes, they’d listen to you.

In my case they just did the Caesarian immediately.

You would go in and they would give you a c section, depending on how advanced labour is and how busy they are etc it might not be immediate.

The only thing my consultant said when I asked was that pre 37 weeks they’d ‘encourage’ me to try to push as the baby would already need help with breathing and this can help clear some of the mucous when they’re premature. My friend had a baby at 36 weeks though and was given her section as planned so I think they would most likely still do it. I have another friend who gave birth at 29 weeks due to preeclampsia and she was given her section. I just completely blocked out any possibility of it happening last time (and luckily it didn’t) and so far at 38 weeks the same theory is working for me again 🤷🏻‍♀️ The secret for me is to stay as anxious and tense as possible as one of the midwives told me last time that I wouldn’t dilate because of how anxious I was over the birth so stay tense! 😂

I didn’t get mine as I had an early labour and the doctors said my stomach muscles hadn’t grown big enough yet to perform the surgery.
