How long did your bruises hurt post partum?

I gave birth 5 days ago and had some stitches which feel fine but the midwife checked me over and said stitches are fine but I have a hematoma / bruise which is what is feeling really sore when I walk and sit especially at the end of the day!

It almost feels as though it stings, I think its just VERY tender.

Has anyone else had this and how long until ot starts to hurt less?! I appreciate I’m only on day 5 but hoping for this to hurt less now!

Get some Arnica tablets. They really help.

Took me nearly 4 weeks in total to feel alright recently. By day 10 I felt alot less pain and heaviness through there. And, then it was only if I sat or stood for too long I'd be in discomfort. Can't really call it pain but it wasn't pleasant.

Keep with your pain meds. On repeat and regularly. I took them like clockwork for the first two weeks and it helped massively but don't let it lull you into false sense of security. You're still tender down there

I had a lot of bruising as i had to have an episiotomy, my stitches felt fine but the bruising was the most painful part!

It took me around 4 weeks to feel better with the bruising, it got worse for me around week 2 and then by the end of week 2 the pain and stinging feeling started to ease.

im 9 week PP now and fully healed down there, whilst recovering the midwife advised me to get a bath once-twice a day just to let the warm water help healing and to be fair it did help!
Keep up with pain meds, i took paracetamol in hospital and almost nothing afterwards because i kept forgetting them, but the odd time i remembered it made such a difference!

Maybe a week? I only had a small tear though, and it didn't require stitches.

My district midwife visited on the first day (I took a 6 hour discharge from hospital after delivering DD1) and said I had the worst bruising she’d seen in a twenty five year career! She insisted on driving back to the practice to bring me a rubber ring cushion to sit on, which was very comfy. I recommend them to any new mum with a tender posterior.
