Been told today I’m being induced tomorrow 35+6

Agghhh!!

I will be 35+6 tomorrow and was referred for growth scans with this second pregnancy as my daughter was born small on the 5th percentile/centile I forget how you say it.

This baby has been on the 3rd then shot up at the last growth scan two weeks ago but today is back down to 3rd and his weight is now static they said he hasn’t put any weight on.
We’ve also been having issues with high PI in the cord so they said it’s safer to get him it out then keep him in and monitoring.

I had an induction with my daughter and was sooo going to push against having one this time as it was hell on earth. But I think that was because it was SO fast and the contractions were so intense I didn’t have time for any pain relief apart from paracetamol and codeine (which I threw straight back up) then gas and air. I was induced at 41 weeks and had little contractions the night before so I think my body was ready. The labour is noted as 1 hour 26 on my birth notes. I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t go for this induction and something happened but I know my body isn’t ready so it will probably be worse!!

I don’t know what I’m looking for here, just some reassurance? I know everybody’s births are different. The baby is estimated 5lb which I know is very lucky compared to how small some babies are born. Has anybody been successfully induced at just under 36 weeks? What’s the likelihood of it ending in a section? (I am absolutely petrified of this scenario!!!)
Also, with a baby of around 5lb what is the likelihood of him needing any help?

I am freaking OUT! This Wasn’t the news I was expecting when I went in today. I did buy the positive birth company Hypnobirthing book last week but haven’t got time to bloody read it now! If anyone has read it and can point out a good chapter or two to binge tonight that might help me I’d be very grateful 😅Thanks for reading the essay x

Good luck!!

You’re doing the right thing having a c section. I had an induction with my second as she was measuring small. Was hideous on the drip and they wouldn’t give me any pain relief. I wish I’d had a section. Good luck

indecisivewoman81 · 22/06/2023 10:03

Good luck for today!

dontknowwhatswrong · 22/06/2023 10:07

I had two
Inductions with my girls my first girl was born at 36 weeks and my second girl had to come at 34+2 due to weight my first girl was 5lb 10 & my second girl was 4lb 2 but the second induction ended up in an emergency C-section as her heart was slowing and and I passed out so you've done the right thing by going with a C-section good luck ❤️

toddlermum27 · 22/06/2023 10:11

Didn't have mine early, but my second was induced and it was so straightforward. I didn't need a high level of the hormone drip which my midwife said is common with second births as your body knows more what to do - so it was much less intense. Good luck!

toddlermum27 · 22/06/2023 10:12

Sorry didn't read the updates before posting - hope it all goes well!

My waters went at 33 weeks so I was told I couldn't wait longer than 37 weeks at any cost so I was due to be induced. I had a previous emergency c-section and was so scared of another one that I opted for a c-section instead at 37 weeks. It all went ok, baby was 5lbs and 5 oz however they were airlifted to a different hospital within hours because they had TTN which is a risk with sections earlier than 38 weeks. He was in HDU for 3 days with breathing support and a feeding tube and I felt totally blindsided and overwhelmed and terrified and it's only now with reflection I can see that actually it was all ok and he just needed a little bit of support. TTN has no long term implications and they are over the worst within 48-72 hours, he was off breathing support by day 3 and moved to SCBU for a few more days whilst we mastered breastfeeding and removed feeding tube. I genuinely was scared at the time that he might die and again with what I now understand about the condition I really shouldn't of been, I ummed and ahhed about posting this because I don't want to scare you as there's every chance it won't happen but for me I think the worst part was being unprepared for it and not understanding how swiftly it passes so I thought it might be helpful in that sense. Sorry if I'm wrong,

He's four months now and perfect and gorgeous Smile

@toddlermum27 there’s a big difference between being induced when you’re due or over due and when it’s early. When it’s early women often need higher doses and even if they don’t some women have a bad reaction to the hormones in the drip and can end up with hyperstimulation. They don’t tell you this stuff when they push for inductions

Wellgoodforyou · 22/06/2023 10:30

Good luck OP for today 💐

cookiedough86 · 22/06/2023 16:05

He’s here!! Born at 1.44pm weighing 4lb 12oz. Came out crying non stop.
Doesn't need any extra support with anything, just needs to have his blood sugars checked every three hours and a few obvs for the next 24 hours. If all is good we can go home tomorrow.

C section wasn’t as bad as expected. I’m currently sat in recovery wanting to scratch my arms off, but apart from that all good.

Thanks again to everyone for their stories and well wishes! x💕

Congratulations! I had ds at 35.5 weeks and took him home at 4.12!!
No special care needed. Just a 6.4 huge dh who was terrified to dress or change him with his stick limbs!!

Insheerpanic · 22/06/2023 16:29

SleepingStandingUp · 22/06/2023 18:37

Planned C sec not induction. Twins at 36 weeks, bugger than you boy (nearly 7lb each, no GD). Straight out and on to me and Dad. Low level jaundice but no treatment.

SleepingStandingUp · 22/06/2023 18:38
