Did you tear with third baby?

Just wondering really. Episiotomy with 1st, 2nd degree with 2nd (he was big and birth was fast). Obviously I can never know but would be so good if I didn't tear again in my third birth. Just wondering what everyone's experience's were with 3rd babies?

My experience was similar for the first two - extended episiotomy with first, second-degree tear with second. I had one or two stitches with the third (last baby).

@chickabilla thank you for your reply. Hoping that's the case for me as well. Also hoping this baby just falls out but that might be asking for too much 🤣🤣

@Lizbiz89 same as you, 3rd baby recently and tore again, though 3rd was worse than my 2nd baby

Shoulder dystocia with 3rd and even then I didn't really tear, just what they call a 'graze' which I had with the 1st as well. Impressive considering how hard she was to push out.
Downside, I'm not and never have been (even pre babies) particularly tight down there.

Lizbiz89 · 12/06/2023 20:12

@Fawn68 sorry to hear that. At least there's a healthy baby at the end though. My son was 9.5 pounds and this is another boy so I'm also worried he is going to even bigger 🤣. Definitely last baby!!

@RagzRebooted yes I'm not particularly tight down there now. I was pre kids, slightly less after my daughter and then my son finished my poor vagina off 🤣. That's why I'm hoping this birth is a bit easier. I felt every single bit of my son crowning!

I tore with all 5.
1st was 3rd degree and episiotomy.
2-4 were 2nd degree
5 was supposedly a graze that didn't need stitches, however in retrospect that's not true (I blame covid and being discharged within 4hrs of her birth) and I've been left, in my GPs words, with a bit of a gape. Have done physio and don't actually fancy stitches/surgery 2yrs on.

All babies were between 8.11 and 9lb10.

Tearing aside, my third was by far the best of my births and she was the biggest.

FVFrog · 18/06/2023 18:29

Tore with all three, third birth was by far the one I felt most in control with, but still needed stitching (2nd degree tear). Was also by largest 8lb 4

rainbug · 18/06/2023 18:32

I had 2nd degree tears with all three of mine

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like there is no pattern when it comes to births which I probably knew deep down anyway 🤣.
