Incontinence products following birth

Hi!
I gave birth 6 days ago to my first and had to have an episiotomy with forceps delivery after induction and pushing for 2 hours.
unfortunately I’m now suffering with incontinence to the point that maternity pads aren’t always enough.

i know I’m very very early days and it’s going to take time to improve but I wondered if anyone could suggest a good incontinence pad or knickers?

thank you!

Congratulations on your new LO. It's been a while since I had my first but I can't remember being incontinent. Have you mentioned it to your MW @Happydays94?

Thank you very much!

Yeah I told them whilst still in hospital
and they got a physio to come and see me but all they said was it should get better in a couple of weeks!
Not very helpful really!

I found that part of the problem was that I just couldn’t feel when I needed to go. Setting a reminder to go to the loo every couple of hours helped until the bruising etc got better

Could you wear incontinence pants and add maternity pad for extra protection?
If its not better by your 6 week check make sure you push for a referral at the hospital.
It will get better over time

Hi. I had the opposite issue with my bladder, in that I just couldn't go at all. I wasn't taken seriously for a while. It sounds like the incontinence you are experiencing is pretty severe so I would want to mention it again and get checked. Keep weeing regularly and drinking well, but if it seems unusual for/to you, then don't take no for an answer until you have been properly checked out and the issue is dealt with.

Tena pants are the best ones. Very convenient, cannot feel that wear anything different and even when cannot get to loo fast will hold it all.

It is important to use proper product not sanitary pads as it is bad for skin.
