Hello,
I'm 36 and expecting my second baby at the end of June.My first labour was very straightforward and gave birth after 6h of pushing. No epidural had no time for because the baby was coming quickly. My question is do they really come quicker second time around?Thank you.

DD1 24 hours from first contraction to birth, Spontaneous labour. DD2 I had a sweep and she was born just under 8 hours later. Both born on their due dates. DD1 was ventouse delivery with diamorphine as pain relief and DD2 was natural water birth, no time for pain relief.

Just to add, I started contracting probably about an hour after the sweep

My first labour was 37.75 hours, the second was 24 and the third was 20 hours.

I was induced with the drip for my first. 8-9 hour labour from first contraction to birth. My second was natural and was 30 hours from first contraction to birth. So first was a lot faster for me but that could have been because I was induced.

1st 3 hours
2nd 19 minutes
3rd 3 and a half hours!

Second was much quicker! But third was longer as her massive Hey Arnold head got stuck 😫

Nearly there now OP?

First was 11 hours from waking with first contraction to birth. 20 mins pushing.

Second was just over 8 hours from having waters broken to birth. 6 minutes pushing and no pain until the last half an hour. Both beautiful births.

Jinglybangly · 17/06/2023 22:14

1st 8 hours from first twinge to birth
2nd 9 hours 20 mins. I am sure he would have been faster had he not been back to back.

Yes first was about 12 hours (from 6cm)
2nd 4 hours only one examination after 2 hours of contractions I was 7-8cm.

Kinsters · 24/06/2023 10:27

My first was just over 5 hours, second was just over 6 hours but he was an induction.

DrJump · 24/06/2023 11:29

Yeah my first was a good 9 hours, second was 2, my 3 was 16 minutes (4cm to baby)

Corkcobain · 24/06/2023 11:39

Dc1- 24 hours intense pain

Dc2- 1 hour 45 mins from waking up from the first contraction (non stop back to back) to baby coming out. Hospital was 40 mins away, luckily made it at the hospital 10 mins before baby arrived (in a side assessment room with my leggings still on as they didn't believe me 🙈)

DD1 - loads of Braxton hicks, but once labour started my waters went and she was out 4 hours later. DD2 - much bigger baby, head engaged for over a week, stop-start labour and finally pushed her our days after my contractions started! TBH I think my first daughter being smaller meant she had more space whereas my second had to be in exactly the right angle in order to come out iyswim

Beachhutnut · 02/07/2023 21:41

Mine was exactly the same ( but both less tha 4 hours)
