Transverse lie

For any transverse lie babies at full term (after 37 weeks), did you have a c section and at what gestation if so?

Mine were both transverse but both had shifted by 36 weeks, that's probably no help, sorry!

Have they offered you a C-Section '@Curtains2004?

I’m onto my second transverse baby. First one I had a c-section at 39 weeks. This time around it will be 38 weeks, and I’ve been admitted to hospital from 37 weeks (I’m there now!) in case things kick off early.

For my first they offered an ECV to turn her, but vaginal birth after that would have been very medicalised and with a high chance of an emergency section. My planned section was great, so it was a no-brainer to have another whatever position they were in.

@RoxanaRoxana why would the birth be medicalised with a high chance of section following an ECV? There's no indication for this in clinical guidance as far as I know

@tiredpuppymum an induction can then be recommended if you have an unstable lie but have a successful ECV, I think this is what PP means.

An ECV carries several risks: the membranes could be ruptured, the umbilical cord or placenta damaged,... And if any of this happens then an emergency c-section is necessary (which it isn't the same as having a planned one), or if the baby is in unstable lie the hospital would likely offer you an immediate induction to ensure baby stays head down, and inductions carry their own risks too including ending up needing an emergency c-section. My aunt had a very traumatic emergency c-section and she recommended me to avoid any risks. Her second planned c-section went smoothly.
