So, myself and half of my antenatal thread have all bought them, why?
What on earth are we meant to do with them???

I didn't buy one. But, as BH got stronger I started hip-rocking. And let me say I think I owe the (almost enjoyable) second labour to hip-rocking. Then when I was on the labour ward, midwifes noticed my hiprocking and supplied birthing ball - it was great! Imagine, it's christmas eve, and there I am bouncing along to christmas songs on the radio whilst getting more dilated!

I was able to get through it and the bouncing really helped the contractions (even the very very bad ones)

The Best thing I ever got!!!

Last 5 months of pregnancy sat on ball instead of uncomfortable chairs/sofas. It was bloody hot summer of 2006 so often nacked . SORRY TMI. Loved it until about 7 cm dilated in labour. Only wish I'd found them for DD an DS1

I still use it now oh and the pillow between knees thing that I started with DD 12 years ago

Time to move on babalon?

The birthing ball is cheap enough to buy from say 'Tesco's' around £7.00. I used one with my dd. It did help mind during contractions and it's meant to help open your pelvis and is similar movements to walking if you rock back and forth on it.

Only place I could get comfy sitting on or leaning over while heavily pg and in early labour. Heaven. Never got round to letting the air out and 18m DD now loves pushing it round the garden in a 'Prisoner' stylee. Might pump it up a bit and wash it down before number two arrives this summer...
