Delaying labour - advice needed

Hi,
C Section due in 11 days but Midwife confirmed 2 days ago that preliminary contractions have started. DH is also out of the country until Saturday morning. It's highly unlikely to all happen in the next 72 hours (touch wood) but I also want to make it to 25th. Any suggestions on how to keep this baby in?

If bubs wants to come out i'm afraid theres nothing you can do.
Try sitting with your feet up and relaxing
Good luck

Wendyjayb,
Thanks for writing. Let's see...Mumsnet check, telephone check, chocolate check...Damn, got to go collect DS from Kindergarten in 15 minutes.
Aaaaaaargh, it's a nightmare being on our own in a foreign country.

I wanted to delay labour with dd2 to hang on until new hospital wing was up and running when I was overseas . I just lay down with feet up all day. Did wonders for my puffy ankles. DD1 has never watched so much TV. FWIW baby stayed in and I ended up having to be induced (which wasn't so bad). Good Luck.

We've not got round to getting cable set up here so there's a limited selection of DVDs for DS to watch. Think we might do that this afternoon.

Oh we only had one channel with no childrens programmes so it was dvd's all the way for us. God Bless Bear in the Big blue house and the Tweenies and Fimbles.

This may not work, but you could try wanting very hard. Then, once you're ready, give yourself permission to go into labour.

This happened to me, once deliberately (the baby had gone overdue, which meant that if I went into labour I would miss ds1's first school show, which obviously I didn't want to do, and in the end I went into labour a few hours after the show) and once 'accidentally' (I was worried about arrangements, and went into labour the day everything was finalised and the last load of babyclothes had been washed and folded).

Oh yes, and I told my baby to hang on in there. She took it a bit too far imo though and decided not to arrive even when I said I was ready now, hence the induction, but if you are due a c-section anyway no worries
