Feel so weak

I know i’m only 3 days PP… but i’m only 24 and feel so weak? I had the epidural and 2nd degree tears ( no forceps/epi or anything else).

I know every body is different and every pregnancy/birth is different but i’m just sad… i’ve been given iron tablets but idk… can it even get better? and if it doesn’t what else needs checking other than iron? I wasn’t dieting/excersing in pregnancy but i still felt myself and fit only towards the end when I felt squashed because bump was getting bigger tbh the only positive atm is that I don’t feel squashed up anymore…

In my day new mums stayed in (NHS) hospital for 10 days after birth , to rest and recover our strength. We really appreciated it.

Of course you feel tired out; it's normal. When you get home, put some salt in the bathwater and enjoy a gentle soak of your stitches. Do that every day until downstairs feels better. Let everybody else do all domestic work; take your time. Eat well. You'll soon feel much better than you do today.

You should have a midwife appointment on day 5 after having baby for them to check on baby and weigh etc so ask the midwife then to check your stitches and whether you could be anaemic. She should have access to your blood results taken in pregnancy and look at how much blood loss was documented during/post delivery. Your body has just been through an extreme process, even if all is normal it does take it out of you. In a week or two you will hopefully feel much stronger x

My mum said she could have stayed in for 5 days that was 25 years ago.

Some women at my hospital are sent home after 6 hours! Thank you.

thanks for the reassurance! i lost 1000ml along with epidural and 2nd degree tears so that along with lochia and stiches…. isn’t that PPH? 1000ml probably why i’m weak. i’m not sure if hit by a bus but more I can walk and etc but feel like i could be falling apart/i’m breaking apart. I guess i just need to give myself time and rest

Ring the midwife and get everything checked over. Have some protein shakes for energy and see if someone can take baby out for a few hours and sleep. House can wait xxx

At 3 days I felt dreadful, like someone had removed all my cure muscles. And my pelvis and hips were so sore. Midwife pointed out all the muscles had had a bowling ball sized baby forced through them so it’s normal to be bruised and battered. Also hormones are crazy at that stage. Agree with what others have said about anaemia and infections, please talk to your midwife, however it may all be normal. Your body has gone through a huge physical thing. I think you might be surprised how much better you feel in a week or two.

Yes you will feel better but you have been through a lot ❤️

there Are two sides to this.

feeling weak is totally normal. You don’t need to be doing anything other than sitting somewhere comfortable while you hold your baby and your partner brings you things.

There was also a day where I suddenly felt like my limbs were wet pasta. That was the start of mastitis.

If you are worried, it doesn’t hurt to get checked out. If you are just holding yourself to some standard of perfection and thinking you should be up and back to normal, accept that many, many women need to rest.

How are you today @mrxrsx?

i feel so much better! before i was feeling like my limbs were held up with a piece of string and the strings are nearly falling off but i still feel not 100% quite weak and especially in the front and back where epidural site is but i might go in/phone triage tomorrow. but definitely feel much better.
