Private OB recommendations

Heyyy,

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant & I am moving from Sydney, Australia to London for my husbands job on 20th April & I will be 25 weeks.

I need to find an obstetrician that can continue to see me & deliver my baby in London (slightly stressed =)) My due date is 2nd August however my first pregnancy was c-section due to my baby being breech.

Hoping to find out recommendations on private OBs in London please? Normally I would reach out to my friends but moving countries I don't have a support network yet so would love some first hand experiences on OB or hospitals.
Let me know anything else you think would be helpful please xx
Thank you so much =)

I'd recommend you go for the nearest private hospital to you and find one there - where will you be living? Also the cost varies a lot between them which may be a factor?

We don’t know where we will be living but probs central London? Happy to travel & pay for an amazing OB ☺️

Travelling across London while you're in labour is probably not going to work though, especially if it happened to be peak hour!

Have a look at the options but I'd wait until you've got somewhere to live locked in before committing. Private OBs have different specialisms so you could see if any are relevant to you.

Also think about whether you want a private hospital (nicer, but if something happened you / baby would need to be transported to the nearest NHS hospital with the right facilities), or a private wing in an NHS hospital (would recommend this if you're anxious as at least you know they have every specialist in the building just in case!).

Also there are reviews online of most of them, so narrow it down a bit and then look at those - everyone's experience will be different so you might want to meet a couple & tour the hospital when you first arrive then decide!

I delivered at the Westminster Suite (private maternity wing of St Thomas' hospital). I wanted to be at a major teaching hospital as the baby was having some issues. I interviewed a couple of consultants and went with the one I liked. I thought he was very good so I am happy with my choice.

Another thought - some of the OBs secretaries never replied to my initial email asking about fees etc, so send a few enquiries in case this weeds some out (I figured what's the point if the secretary is useless, I might need to be able to get hold of them in an emergency!)
